Editorial policy and fact-checking

Visa information affects your money and your travel plans. This is how we make sure every figure on this site comes from an official source and is checked again.

Quick answer

Every fee, condition and procedure on Visa to Vietnam comes from a Vietnamese government website, with a link and the date we checked it. Figures are stored in one place, checked automatically before publishing and reviewed every month. New pages are only indexed by search engines after the reviewer approves them.

About this website

Visa to Vietnam is a website of Tu Do Travel Trading and Service Company Limited (Tu Do Travel), a private company. It is not a government agency or an official website of the Government of Vietnam. The information helps you understand and prepare your application; it does not replace the instructions of the immigration authority, which makes every decision.

Sources we use

  • Ministry of Justice of Vietnam (moj.gov.vn) — Vietnamese criminal record certificates.
  • Vietnam National Public Service Portal (dichvucong.gov.vn) — Administrative procedures in Vietnam for foreigners.
  • Vietnam Immigration Department, Ministry of Public Security (xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn) — Visas and residence of foreigners in Vietnam, legal documents, fee schedules.
  • Vietnam e-visa portal (evisa.gov.vn) — Vietnam e-visa applications, fees and official FAQ.
  • Vietnam e-visa portal (alternative official address) (thithucdientu.gov.vn) — Vietnam e-visa — the second official address published by evisa.gov.vn.
  • Public Service Portal of the Ministry of Public Security (dichvucong.bocongan.gov.vn) — Immigration procedures of the Ministry of Public Security: steps, processing times, fees (e.g. e-visa issuance, code 1.002757).
  • Vietnam pre-arrival declaration — Immigration Department (prearrival.immigration.gov.vn) — Pre-arrival declaration before travelling to Vietnam (recommended by evisa.gov.vn) for faster entry formalities.
  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam (mofa.gov.vn) — Vietnam's visa exemption lists (bilateral and unilateral).

Each guide's sources and each data set are listed on the sources page.

Before a page is published

  1. Research

We read the detailed official page or legal document itself (no summaries, news reports or forums) and record the link and the date.

  2. Store the figures

Fees, processing times and exemption lists are stored in one place, each with its source and check date. Guides read the figures from there; nobody retypes them.

  3. Write in two languages

Each guide is written in English and Vietnamese from the same sources, in short sentences with tables, and opens with a quick answer and the sources under the title.

  4. Automatic checks

Before every release, the system blocks sources outside the approved list, wording that promises a result, published service fees, and figures in the wrong format or without a check date.

  5. Review

New pages show a “Pending review” label and are hidden from search engines until the reviewer has read and approved both language versions.

  6. Regular review

Figures are reviewed every month. When Vietnam changes a rule or a fee, we update the guides straight away.

Check dates and updates

The “Updated” line under each guide's title is the date we last reopened the official source to compare. Fee tables carry the check date of the data set. Fees are shown in the original currency (USD), not converted, and always as government fees: our own service fee is quoted separately.

When the source is unclear

If an official source does not state something clearly (for example fines for overstaying), we say so in a “Please verify with the authority” box rather than guess. Experience from our team is labelled as such and never presented as an official rule.

Who reviews the content

Content is written by the Tu Do Travel team and reviewed by Thanh Lee, Chief Executive Officer of Tu Do Travel, before it is indexed. The reviewer checks figures against the sources, the wording and the notes for readers.

Information and services kept apart

  • Guides, the visa checker and the FAQ are free and enough to apply on your own.
  • We never list our service fees; we only show government fees with a source. Our help is quoted per case.
  • We do not promise or predict visa outcomes, and we never suggest untruthful documents.
